About Groundswell

Groundswell, a Brooklyn-based nonprofit established in 1996, unites artists, youth, and community organizations to harness art for social change. Beyond murals, they offer in-school programs across NYC emphasizing social justice in visual arts. Their diverse after-school initiatives, including Advanced/Intro Portfolio, Print Power, Digital Justice, and Voices Her’d, are complemented by projects like the Undocu Spark Lab and Ellis Island Mural Apprenticeship. Groundswell remains steadfast in its mission to make art an accessible catalyst for change, reaching even those on society’s fringes.
